Who is responsible

NavNex is a project based in the United Kingdom. It is not currently an incorporated company.

The operator is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@navnex.net.

This notice covers this public website and enquiries sent through its contact links. Separate privacy information will apply to any future account or platform service.

What information is used

• Enquiries. If you email us, we receive your email address, name and any company details, message or attachments you choose to send. The account request link opens your own email application; there is no account registration form on this website.
• Website delivery and security. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical request information such as IP addresses, browser information, requested pages and timestamps to deliver and protect the website.
• Your selected role. Your browser stores whether you chose Charterer or Shipowner. The detail is explained below.
• Fonts. The landing page requests fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the connection information needed to deliver them, including your IP address and browser request headers.

The on-screen cargo, vessel, payment and voyage examples are demonstrations. Interacting with them does not submit a fixture, transfer money or make an automated decision about you.

Why information is used

We use enquiry information to respond to your questions, discuss early access and keep track of that correspondence. We rely on our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact NavNex and developing business relationships. Where you personally request steps towards a contract, we may also use the information to take those steps at your request.

Technical request information is used to provide a reliable, readable website and prevent misuse, relying on legitimate interests in operating and securing it. Information may also be retained where needed to meet a legal obligation.

Providing information by email is voluntary. Without suitable contact details, we may be unable to reply or discuss access. Browsing the website does not subscribe you to a mailing list.

Browser storage and tracking

The landing page uses a local storage entry called nn-seat to remember the role you choose. It contains only charterer or owner. It stays in your browser until you change the selection or clear this site’s data, and is not sent to us as an account record.

You can change your role using the website’s seat selector, or remove the stored choice in your browser’s site-data settings. A role can also appear in the page address as ?seat=owner or ?seat=charterer; that address may be included in the hosting provider’s request records.

This website’s code includes no advertising pixels or analytics scripts. Hosting infrastructure may use technical protections to deliver the site and prevent abuse. Google Fonts is used to display typefaces, and these legal pages use system fonts.

Service providers and international processing

Information is handled by providers needed to operate the website and respond to enquiries:

• Vercel provides website hosting and security. See its Privacy Notice and Data Processing Addendum.
• Google Fonts delivers fonts on the landing page. See Google’s font privacy explanation and Privacy Policy.
• Email service providers deliver and store correspondence when you email us. Your own email provider also handles the message under its own terms.

These providers may process information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Vercel’s published Data Processing Addendum describes its international transfer arrangements, including contractual safeguards for UK data. Google explains its transfer arrangements in its Privacy Policy. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your enquiry.

Information may be shared with professional advisers or authorities when necessary to meet legal obligations or handle a legal claim.

How long information is kept

Enquiry correspondence is kept while the enquiry or related business conversation remains active, and afterwards only where needed to maintain relevant records, meet legal obligations or handle a dispute. Retention depends on the purpose of the correspondence, whether the relationship continues, and any applicable record-keeping requirement. You may ask for deletion at any time.

Technical information is subject to the hosting and font providers’ retention arrangements described in their privacy information. The role preference has no automatic expiry and remains in your browser until changed or cleared.

Your rights and complaints

Under applicable data protection law, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, request deletion or restriction of its use, and request a portable copy where that right applies. These rights have conditions and legal exceptions.

Your right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including our use of your enquiry information, by emailing hello@navnex.net.

If we rely on your consent for a specific use, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need to confirm your identity before responding to a privacy request.

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office through ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, by telephone on 0303 123 1113, or by writing to the Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. You may also contact the data protection authority where you live or work, where applicable.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when the website or the way information is used changes. The date at the top identifies the current version. Before introducing account services or additional data collection, we will provide the relevant privacy information.
